ITERATIVE
DESIGN PROCESS
THE
ITERATIVE
DESIGN PROCESS
My design process is a continuous loop of research, ideation, prototyping, and refinement. This method isn't just a path forward, but a progressive evolution towards products, services and experiences that solve big problems for real people.
I start every project by immersing myself and the team in the research so we can fully grasp the problem at hand and empathize with our users as we try to solve it.
Audience: We must fully understand the target audience so that we can empathize with them as we ideate and design.
Competition: We must analyze the competitive landscape, existing offerings, features, marketing strategies. Where are the biggest opportunities to differentiate?
Current State: We must fully explore and understand existing heuristics to establish a baseline to build from.
LEARN
LEARN _RESEARCH + UNDERSTAND
This diverse group helps us avoid blindspots and bias that can lead to ineffective results.
In the Design phase, we pull together a diverse team including stakeholders, experts, users and experience designers to ideate on the ideal solution. Key insights discovered in the Learn phase are the cornerstone of the conversation.
DESIGN _IDEATE THE IDEAL
DESIGN
Moving ideas from abstract to concrete allows us to test our hypotheses and validate solutions with real users.
The best ideas from the Design phase bubble to the surface. From there, we can quickly prototype, test, and validate our assumptions.
DELIVER _PROTOTYPE & TEST
DELIVER
The iterative loop closes with refinement. Through A/B testing, user feedback, and further prototyping, we rinse and repeat this process, ensuring each cycle brings us closer to a solution that is not only desirable, but viable and technically feasible.
REFINE _ITERATE + EVOLVE
REFINE
This cyclical process allows for flexibility and responsiveness. It is an iterative cycle of intelligent ideation, testing, and refinement.
